Shame On The Eagles

I hope I’m just one of hundreds hurling shame through the Blogesphere at the misguided move of the Philadelphia Eagles for signing Michael Vick. As a red blooded football fan I can only hang my head in shame in the knowledge Roger Goodell’s foolishly irresponsible and cowardly move in reinstating this unrepentant bully and savage dog killer will only heap condemnation on our greed fueled sport.

I would urge advertisers involved in this grotesquely stupid franchise to pull all commercial dealings and leave this team stranded and alienated from the rest of the NFL. What were they thinking in allowing a man whose actions are so despicable and cruel to once again pick up the pigskin. I’m truly disappointed in Donovan McNabb for showing poor judgment in agreeing to forget this mans sordid actions and agree to play father confessor and surrogate Dad. What respect I had for McNabb has dwindled significantly with this news. I guess as long as he’s playing big brother he’ll still get to start.

The Humane Society has apparently given this their blessing being that Philadelphia is a hot bed of dog fighting and they feel it will prove beneficial in focusing on the problem. I see it a different way. The Eagles are ready to embrace Vick as one of their own and I guess in Philly he’ll just be closer to the sport he loves so dearly and I’m not talking football.

I love football and I love dogs and from my point of thinking great sport is not strangling a dog to death because it won’t perform well. When Michael Vick fails to come up with the goods and proves to be a dud will the Eagles hang him?
